Research expertise in the Indo-Pacific

The Indo-Pacific Research Centre is a university–wide platform for research and collaboration with the region. Our mission is to contribute towards just futures in the Indo-Pacific.

Banyusidi Community CLICCC

We build research expertise, policy engagement and research training to meet the challenges of governance, development and security in the Indo-Pacific region, and to deepen Australian and Western Australian engagement with the region.

Through structured programs, we drive translational research initiatives that analyse and engage with the multiple challenges in the Indo-Pacific region produced by climate, social, cultural, economic and political transformations.

The IPRC plays an important role to the development of academic diplomacy in the region specifically contributing to region-building through the creating of shared-knowledge communities and networks between governments, the private sector and academia throughout the Indo-Pacific, through the production of intellectual and policy-making outcomes.

The expertise harnessed within the IPRC will also contribute intellectually to reconsidering what the Indo-Pacific means in terms of the key 21st century issues pertaining to development, governance and security – conceptually, geographically, politically, culturally and strategically.
