George Alexander Foundation Scholarship

The George Alexander Foundation's main point of focus is supporting access to education for promising young people, particularly those from rural and remote areas. Their aim is to help overcome barriers and make it possible for talented students to achieve their potential and go on to contribute to the Australian community. George Alexander believed in the notion of 'planting seeds and hoping they grow into pretty big trees'.

The scholarship is to be used for accommodation and living expenses in Perth, with students encouraged to consider accommodation at Murdoch University Village.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian Citizen
  • have graduated from secondary school in the previous two years
  • have a history of high academic achievement with an achieved ATAR (or adjusted ATAR) of 80 or higher
  • have relocated from an inner regional, outer regional, remote, or very remote location
  • can demonstrate examples of personal leadership and/or contributions to the community

Successful candidates must study full-time internally at Murdoch University and be commencing their first year of tertiary study.

Required Documents

This Scholarship requires you to provide the following documents:

  1. Murdoch Online Application Form
  2. George Alexander Foundation Selection Criteria Form
  3. Academic Reference -Please include a signed letter of recommendation from an academic referee on letterhead dated no more than three months ago.
  4. Community/Employer Reference - Please include a signed letter of recommendation from a senior representative of an organisation or employer dated no more than twelve months ago.
  5. Resume - Please provide an up-to-date resume.
  6. Academic Record - Please provide a copy of your Year 12 Statement of Results from the Curriculum Council or equivalent (if they are available to you).
  7. Proof of Address - Please provide proof of address that shows you are from a regional or remote location.

Payment Method

Payments will be made directly into recipient's nominated bank account in the following instalments:

The scholarship will be paid over three years regardless of the degree length:

$4,250 in week 7 or 8 of each semester for up to 3 years

All payments are subject to your acceptance and ongoing compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
