The Gnaala Karla Booja Scholarship Programme supports the delivery of Newmont Australia's inclusion and diversity targets, its Reconciliation Action Plan and the specific commitments related to tertiary scholarships and secondary education engagement for Gnaala Karla Booja – Noongar students.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (must have cultural linkages to Gnaala Karla Booja - Noongar community, such as who your family connections are, your mob, and/or where your family is from (if you require support, please reach out to Kulbardi at Kulbardi@murdoch.edu.au)
- be enrolled in one of the following courses - Engineering – Electrical Power; Renewable Energy; Engineering Technology, Business – Accounting; Finance; Commerce, Human Resources Management; Human Resource Management and Analytics, Sciences – Conservation and Wildlife Biology; Environmental Management and Sustainability; Environmental Science, Arts – Community Development; Sociology; Sustainable Development; Information Technology & Business – Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems; Business Information Systems; Computer Science; Internetworking and Network Security
- study full-time or part-time with extenuating circumstances
*Please note: The applicant must not hold another mining industry awarded tertiary scholarship at or external to Murdoch University
How to Apply
This scholarship opens for applications through this Online Application Form on 5 October 2025. You will need your Murdoch Student ID to access this form.
You are welcome to express your interest in this scholarship by emailing us at mu_scholarships_eoi@murdoch.edu.au noting your name and the scholarship you are interested in within the subject heading of the email. Expressing your interest will enable us to send you a reminder to be one of the first to apply for this scholarship as soon as it opens.
Required Documents
This scholarship requires you to provide the following:
- Completed Online Application Form
- A personal statement (no more than 500 words) that covers the following:
- why you would be a worthy recipient of the scholarship
- how the scholarship will assist you to be successful in your studies
- your cultural linkages to Gnaala Karla Booja - Noongar community
Payment Method
Payments will be made directly into your nominated bank account in the following instalments:
- $4,000 in week 7 or 8 of the semester you are awarded
- $4,000 in week 7 or 8 of the consecutive second semester
All payments are subject to your ongoing acceptance and compliance with the terms and conditions of the award.
