Bookings

Active Kids programs run during every school holiday period, and bookings open a few weeks before the end of each school term. We can accommodate up to 200 children per day, so booking early is recommended to secure your child’s spot and help us plan a fun and well-organized program.

Program times

The scheduled activities run between 9am and 3pm. Supervision is provided outside these times to allow you to drop off earlier or pick up later.

Children are to be signed in by a parent or guardian each morning between 8am and 9am at the  Murdoch Active reception.

Pickup and sign out is from the reception and is best between 3pm and 5pm. After 5pm late fees will apply. Find the best place to park on campus.

Frequently asked questions

The program is designed for children aged 4-12 years old. Activities and groups are tailored to suit different developmental stages and skill levels. Please note if your child is 4 years old they need to have completed 1 term of Kindy and be toilet trained. 

Scheduled activities run from 9am – 3pm so drop off is between 8-9am and pickup is between 3-5pm. Late fees will apply for any pickups after 5pm.

Yes, we offer discounted rates when you book 5 or more sessions within one booking. Further discounts for current Murdoch students and staff are also available. Please see our pricing page or contact us for more details. 

Unfortunately, our Active Kids Program is not eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). However, we strive to keep our program accessible by offering competitive rates, and staff and student discounts to help make participation more affordable. 

We understand that plans can change!

If you need to amend your booking, please contact us as soon as possible at activekids@murdoch.edu.au. We’ll do our best to accommodate changes, subject to availability. Keep in mind that changes may not always be possible, especially during busy periods, but we’ll always try to help when we can. 

Please note - if your booking is less than 7 days prior to the start of the program, we will need a medical note before any credit is granted.

  • If it’s more than 7 days prior to the start of the program - we are happy to apply a credit that can be used toward a future booking.

  • If it’s within 7 days prior to the start of the program - a medical note or similar documentation will be required in order to provide a credit.

As each day of the program differs, you may need to check the program to ensure your child has what is needed. However, as a rule, they will need: 

  • Appropriate clothing (including a change of clothing) 
  • Enclosed shoes (no crocs or flip-flops)
  • A hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle
  • Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea
  • Medication (if required)
No, children will need to pack their own food and water bottles. Please note we are a nut-free program.  
The program runs in all weather. We have access to both indoor and outdoor facilities and will adjust activities as needed to create a safe and enjoyable environment.  
Things such as electronics, games, phones, tablets, valuables, cash and personal/precious toys are best left at home. In some special circumstances, if a mobile phone is essential, we can make special arrangements prior to registration.  
As the program involves multiple diverse sports, your child will be participating in both indoor and outdoor activities. As such, we will ensure your child is following appropriate sunsafe measures such as sunscreen, hats, staying hydrated to keep your child safe whilst outside. 
Our Active Kids program is all about variety, fun and movement. Children will have the chance to try a wide range of sports and activities designed to keep them active, engaged and smiling. From team games like soccer and basketball to individual activities like athletics and dance, there’s something for every interest and energy level. Every session is designed to promote physical activity, teamwork and most importantly – fun!  
We understand how important it can be for children to attend with friends, and whilst we do our best to place them in the same group when they are in a similar age bracket. However, due to group sizes, age differences and activity planning, we cannot guarantee that all friend requests can be accommodated. We appreciate your understanding and always aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for every child – and the opportunity to make new friends along the way!   
For the age group 4-6years old, the ratio is 1:10. For all other age groups, the ratio is 1:13.  
We’re sorry to hear your child is unwell. If your child is too sick to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. While we can’t offer refunds, we may be able to offer a credit for the missed session, depending on the circumstances. Just get in touch with us at activekids@murdoch.edu.au and we’ll do our best to assist you.  
Our qualified staff are trained in first aid and will care for your child appropriately. If needed, we will contact you immediately using the emergency contact information provided during registration.  
All our staff hold current Working with Children Checks and are trained in first aid and child safety protocols.  

Holiday Program Officers

The Active Kids program is run by an experienced team of enthusiastic and friendly leaders made up of Murdoch Active staff, education students, Murdoch graduates and school teachers. All leaders are trained in a variety of sports and are current Working with Children Check cardholders. Supervising staff also hold First Aid certificates.
