Changes to ordering your Student ID card

The IT Service Desk would like to advise you that new ID cards are temporarily unavailable; we are currently in the process of improving this service with the introduction of a new request portal. Cards that have been requested will be delivered early 2026.

If you urgently require an ID card to complete an assessment, or need to discuss alternatives regarding identification, contact the IT Service Desk on 08 9360 2000 so we can assist you directly.

Your Student Identification (ID) helps identify you as a Murdoch University student and gives you access to Murdoch online systems and services. Your ID number is the 8-digit student number on your offer letter and is used for your Murdoch email.

You can log in to most Murdoch systems and services with:

Student ID card

You’ll need a student ID card if you are studying on campus in Australia. External and OUA students can also request a card to access on-campus facilities. If you’re studying at our Singapore or Dubai campuses, contact the program management team at your local partner institution.

Your Student ID card is used for:

  • photographic identification, for example at examinations (including those held off campus)
  • electronic access to secure buildings and laboratories relevant to your course
  • in person library borrowing
  • photocopy and printing services.

Lost or stolen ID card

If your Student ID card has been lost or stolen, report the card to security@murdoch.edu.au so that access can be suspended. If you find someone’s Student ID card, drop it off at Student Central or post to 90 South Street, Murdoch, Western Australia 6150.

Get your yearly validation sticker

You do not need to order a new Student ID card if your validation sticker has expired.

Use the same Student ID card throughout your studies, however you should get a validation sticker for each year that you are enrolled. A current year validation sticker is required to access student discounts, or if you are using your Student ID card to get a Tertiary Smartrider

To get a current validation sticker, visit:

Your validation sticker can be posted to you if you are an external student living more than 30km from Murdoch University or an OUA student - please contact Student Central to submit your request.
