Student Staff Partnership Hub

The Student–Staff Partnership Hub is a central space for collaboration, innovation, and co-creation at Murdoch University. It showcases opportunities where students and staff can work together as colleagues, shaping teaching, learning, and university experience.

Partnerships between students and staff go beyond traditional consultation. They are built on shared responsibility, mutual respect, and the recognition that both groups bring valuable expertise. This hub provides resources, stories, and opportunities to foster those partnerships at Murdoch.

What does partnership mean?

Partnership means working with each other, not for each other. It is about. transforming the university experience from something transactional, where students simply receive education, into something collaborative, where students and staff co-create knowledge and experiences.

Partnership is aspirational, and the more students and staff partner on projects or in decision-making, the more impact this has.

Inform
To provide students with information e.g. "We will keep you informed"

Consult
To obtain student feedback on decisions and processes e.g. "We will listen and acknowledge your opinions."

Involve
To work with students throughout decision making processes e.g. "We will work with you to ensure opinions are reflected in our decisions."

Collaborate
To partner with students in each aspect of decision making e.g. "We will look to you for advice and innovation as much as possible when making decisions."

Empower
To place decision making in students' hands e.g. "We will implement what you decide."

Partnership stories

Hear from students and staff who have worked together to create meaningful change at Murdoch.

I created this Hub to connect students and staff for partnership opportunities so that student voices are heard in an authentic way. This passion came from having multiple roles as a staff member at Murdoch while studying, which led to opportunities that other students don’t get.

As an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Student Partner, I get to manage my own equity-focused projects - like getting free period product dispensers installed in bathrooms. I've benefited from friendly relationships with staff, being taught new skills 1-on-1 and broadening my perspective.
